Department of Philosophy of Nature Cure

The Department of Philosophy of Nature Cure introduces the historical development, core concepts and professional identity of naturopathy. It examines traditional nature-cure views of health, disease, vitality, healing crisis, the unity of disease and cure, inflammation, functional and organic disorders and the role of the five great elements. Students study the contributions of Indian and international pioneers and consider the preventive value of regular habits, rest, relaxation, natural diet, fasting, exercise, water, mud, air and sunlight. It provides introductory exposure to Ayurveda, Siddha, Homoeopathy, Unani and modern medicine so that students understand similarities, differences and appropriate professional boundaries. Practical work familiarises students with basic nature-cure procedures, diet preparation and institutional visits.
