Building precise three-dimensional knowledge for examination, movement and therapeutic safety.
Department of Human Anatomy
The Department of Human Anatomy provides a systematic understanding of the structure of the human body from cells and tissues to organs, regions and body systems. The department deals with anatomical terminology, histology, embryological foundations, osteology, arthrology, myology and the regional anatomy of the limbs, thorax, abdomen, pelvis, head and neck. Students study the respiratory, cardiovascular, digestive, urinary, reproductive, endocrine, lymphatic and nervous systems, together with cranial nerves and the organs of special sense. Dissection, demonstration, models, bones, histological slides and surface marking are used to develop spatial understanding. This foundation is essential for safe physical examination, yoga instruction, manual therapies, physiotherapy and acupuncture-point localisation.
Students Learning Outcomes
✔ Identify major anatomical structures and explain their relationships
✔ Apply surface and regional anatomy to examination, movement and therapeutic procedures
✔ Relate microscopic structure and embryological development to adult anatomy
✔ Use standard anatomical terminology accurately in academic and clinical communication
