Department of Hydrotherapy & Clay Therapy

The Department of Hydrotherapy & Clay Therapy teaches the physical properties, physiological effects and supervised clinical use of water and clay. Students examine heat production and regulation, the effects of hot, cold, neutral and alternating applications, reflex areas, reaction and incomplete reaction, and the place assigned to hydrotherapy in acute and chronic conditions. The syllabus covers therapeutic actions, constitutional and local effects, baths, douches, sprays, jets, fomentations, compresses, packs, internal uses of water and pool therapy. Clay therapy is approached through preparation, application, hygiene and patient comfort.
